Regional meeting in Autonomous Republic of Adjara The NGO “Ecological Awareness and Waste Management” (EAWM) started regional meetings across the Georgia. Meetings are held in the framework of the ‘Clean Up Georgia – Phase III” Project and aim to inform the governance of the regions on the hazardous waste (chlorine/chemicals) and threats caused by them on the territory of Georgia and in particular on the territory of each region.

Training of Chemistry Laboratory Staff and Relevant Students of Adjara region Public Schools On November 28, 2017, EAWM conducted a training of chemistry laboratory staff of Adjara region public schools, entitled “Registration, Safe Handling, Warehousing, Laboratory Usage, Utilization and Transportation of Chemical Substances and Waste in Educational Establishments" in Batumi. The training was held in the framework of the “Clean Up Georgia – Phase III” Project.

Meeting with the company “Batumi Water” Ltd On November 28, 2017 NGO Ecological Awareness and Waste Management (EAWM) held a meeting with the company “Batumi Water” Ltd, in Batumi (Adjara Region) in the framework of the ‘Clean Up Georgia – Phase III” Project. The purpose of the meeting was to inform the Company about the ongoing project activities and schedule cooperation in the area of hazardous waste management, in particular, chlorine/chemicals, on the territory of Adjara Region of Georgia.

The Winners of the Contest "Clean Region" has been Announced On December 2, the award ceremony of the Contest "Clean Region" was held in the framework of the campaign "Clean Up Georgia", organized by the Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth-Georgia and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection, with support of Tbilisi City Assembly.
The Contest "Clean Region" was announced in April of the current year and it was held in five nominations. The goal of the contest was to identify the country's most clean region, clean municipality , clean city / borough, clean village / community and a beautiful yard.
Representatives of regions, towns, municipalities, villages and population groups participating in the contest were able to send photos and video materials about their residence during the 6 month period of the competition.

Meeting in Tsageri Municiplaity On November 25, within the framework of the project “ Clean Up Georgia “ (phase III) community meetings were held on waste management issues in villages Lajana and Lower Tsageri, organized by regional coordinator of the Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth – Georgia. The meeting was attended by local population and pupils of the Ecoclub of the village Lajana.
At the meeting local coordinator provided information to presented audience on problems related to waste management in Georgia, obligations of municipalities and world experience in the field of waste management.
The meetin showed a great interest. It was noted, that as in most Georgian villages, the number of garbage containers is insufficient. 39 local residents took part in the meeting

Meeting in Kharagauli Municiplaity On November 24, within the framework of the project “ Clean Up Georgia “ (phase III) community meetings were held on waste management issues in village Bazaleti , organized by regional coordinator of the Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth – Georgia. The meeting was attended by pupils and teachers of local public school.
At the meeting local coordinator provided information to presented audience on problems related to waste management in Georgia, obligations of municipalities and world experience in the field of waste management.

Clean Up Action in Bolnisi municipality On November 11, in the framework of “Clean Up Georgia ”campaign a clean up action was carried out in Bolnisi municipality, organized at the initiative of the Greens Movement of Georgia/Friends of the Earth-Georgia, with participation of the teachers and pupils of Bolnisi public school N3.
Within the scope of the action the pupils and teachers have cleaned up the public school surrounding territory. In total, 18 pupils and 1 teacher took part in the action and have cleaned up 3 ha area and collected 2 m3 of waste.

Clean Up Action in Norio On November 18, in the framework of “Clean Up Georgia ”campaign a clean up action was carried out in Martkopi, organized at the initiative of the Greens Movement of Georgia/Friends of the Earth-Georgia, with participation of the students of the State Medical University of Georgia.
Within the scope of the action was cleaned up Norio Deity Monastery surrounding area, around 0,5 ha and about 12 m3 of waste was collected. During the action, students noted that they often clean up this territory, and they are ready to participate in such actions in the future. After the event, students were able to listen to waste management issues.

"Ecological Awareness and Waste Management” NGO "Ecological Awareness and Waste Management” produced another manual/guideline, “Waste and Bioremediation”. The brochure is prepared within the framework of the "Clean up Georgia – Phase III" project, the main goal of which is to develop waste management base, in accordance with modern standards, by raising public ecological awareness in Georgia.
