2018-09-07 Meetings with Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Imereti and Guria governors

In the framework of the project "Clean Up Georgia (Phase III)", representatives of the Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth-Georgia met with the State Representative-Governor in Samegrelo-Zemo-Svaneti region, Mr. Alexander Motserelia, the State Representative-Governor in Imereti region, Mr. Shavlego Tabatadze and the State Representative-Governor in Guria region, Mr. Zurab Nasaraia.
The purpose of these meetings was to become a newly appointed Regional Governors familiar with planned activities within the framework of the World Cleanup Days on September 15-16 in the regions and to provide information on planned clean-up actions in the municipalities during these days.

2018-08-01 Meetings in Tsageri and Lentekhi Municipalities

In the the framework of the project "Clean Up Georgia", the meetings were held with Mayors of Tsageri and Lentekhi municipalities to plan clean up actions on the occasion of World Clean Up Day, to be held on September 15 . The meetings were organized by the Greens Movement of Georgia/Friends of the Earth-Georgia.

The Meetings with Mayors of Tsageri and Lentekhi municipalities were led by the co-chair of the Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of Georgia - Project Manager, Ms.Nino Chkhobadze, who focused on fulfilment of the obligations under the Association Agreement, according to which the municipal waste should be reduced in 50% and as for construction waste in 70% by 2020. There was also discussion about the activities planned within the framework of the project "Clean Up Georgia".

2018-07-30 Meetings in Imereti region under the framework of the project

On July 23-26, under the framework of the project "Clean Up Georgia", the meetings were held with Mayors of the municipalities of Imereti region to plan clean up actions on the occasion of World Clean Up Day, to be held on September 15

2018-07-19 Clean Up Action in Bolnisi Municipality

On July 19, within the framework of "Clean Up Georgia" campaign a clean up action was carried out in Bolnisi municipality, with participation of local municipality, audit, economic, administration officials of supervision department and "communal service" ltd employees. The action was organized by the local coordinator of the Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth-Georgia.
The action participants have cleaned up the gorge in village Javshaniani, around 1ha area and collected 4 m3 of waste. In total, 50 volunteers took part in the action.

2018-06-26 Meetings in Batumi (Autonomous Republic of Adjara).

On June 21-22, 2018, NGO "Ecological Awareness and and Waste Management", within the framework of the project "Clean Up Georgia - Phase III", held the summary meetings with the representatives of Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports and Administration of the Government of Adjara AR In Batumi.

2018-06-21 Clean Up Action in Bolnisi

On June 18, in the framework of “Clean Up Georgia ”campaign a clean up action was carried out in Bolnisi municipality, with participation of the teacher and pupils of private secondary school “Davitiani”.
During the action, one of the districts of the municipality, so-called settlement of "Geologists" was cleaned up. In total 16 pupils and 1 teacher took part in the action, cleared the area of 2 hectares and collected 1.5 m3 of waste.

2018-06-18 Meeting with the Residents of the Village Rustavi Aspindza Municipality

On 15 June, within the framework of the project "Clean Up Georgia", the Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth-Georgia organized meeting with population of village Rustavi in Aspindza municipality on waste management issues.

The purpose of the meeting was to provide population with information on waste management issues. During the meetings were discussed the situation in the region regarding waste management along with municipal waste management plans. The conversation concerned new technologies for waste management, existing and remaining illegal landfills in the municipalities and introduction of separation, recycling and composting methods.

On 14 June, within the framework of the project "Clean Up Georgia", the Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth-Georgia organized meeting with population of the village Zarzma in Adigeni municipality on waste management issues.

During the meetings were discussed the situation in the region regarding waste management along with municipal waste management plan. On 15 June, within the framework of the project "Clean Up Georgia", the Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth-Georgia organized meeting with population of village Khanchali in Ninotsminda municipality on waste management issues.

The purpose of the meeting was to provide population with information on waste management issues. 2018-06-17 Meeting with the Residents of the Village Deliska, Akhalkalaki Municipality

On June 15, at the initiative of the Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth-Georgia a meeting was held with residents of the village Deliska in Akhalkalaki municipality on waste management issues within the framework of the project "Clean Up Georgia (phase III), organized by the Project Manager.

During the meeting, the issues of waste management and the situation in rural areas were discussed. The population was informed about the requirements of the law and the obligation of the municipality for waste management. The conversation concerned new technologies for waste management, existing and remaining illegal landfills in the municipalities and introduction of separation, recycling and composting methods.

At the meeting, local residents noted that the lack of sewerage systems poses a big problem, as the sewer pipes of the majority of the population fall into small ravines that pollute the small river of the village. For their part, it was also mentioned that they would try to solve the problem on the spot. The meeting was attended by 15 local residents.

2018-06-14 Meeting with Ushguli Residents

On June 10, within the framework of "Clean Up Georgia " campaign the Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth-Georgia organized a clean- up action together with local population in village Ushguli , where tourists also took part.
During the clean-up event, the organizers and participants cleared those areas that represent the touristic zone. Namely, walking road to the Inguri River, as well as the motor bridge and its environs in the village . The territory is a parking zone, where a large amount of household waste is created. Within the scope of the action, approximately 3 hectares of area was cleaned up and 1 ton of waste was collected. 15 volunteers were involved in the action.

2018-06-07 “Clean Up Georgia Phase III” project “Ecological Awareness and Waste Management” National/Stakeholder Meeting

On May 25, 2018 the National/Stakeholder Meeting of the project "Clean Up Georgia Phase III" was held in the new Meeting Space "Republic" of the "Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel", during which the activities carried out within the framework of the project were evaluated and the results of the project were presented by the members of project implementing organizations in improving the waste management practices and enhancing the environmental responsibility of population, business sector and civil society organizations in Georgia.

2018-06-05 5 June is a World Environment Day

On June 5, in occasion of World Environment Day the Greens Movement of Georgia/Friends of the Earth –Georgia with support of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture organized a clean up action in Mtskheta with participation of employees of the Public Defender's Office.

2018-06-05 World Environment Day in Senaki Municipality

On June 5, in the framework of "Clean Up Georgia" campaign various environmental activities were held in Senaki municipality to celebrate World Environment Day. Among them, local coordinator of the Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth –Georgia organized a clean-up action, with participation of Senaki St. Aleksi Monk's school-lyceum and assistant to the Mayor of Senaki municipality, Mr. Edisher Bagaturia,
During the action the central districts of the city and small rivers were cleared. Participants of the action cleaned up an area of about 0,25 ha , collecting about 50 kg. waste, with participation of 20 pupils
