The award ceremony of the Contest "Clean Region" - 2019 The award ceremony of the Contest "Clean Region" 2019 took place in the premises of Tbilisi City Assembly. The event was organized by the Greens Movement of Georgia/Friends of the Earth-Georgia with support of Tbilisi City Assembly and the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia under the scope of the project “Keep Georgia Tidy.”
The Contest was announced last year and the goal of the contest was to identify the cleanest region, cleanest municipality, cleanest city, cleanest village / community, beautiful (green) yard, clean street and beautiful (green) balcony throughout the country. The new nomination “Beautiful Yard of Organization" was added in 2019.
The contest "Clean Region" was first announced in 2015 under the scope of “Clean Up Georgia” campaign aiming stimulation of all regions of Georgia to reduce waste, uncontrolled dumpsites in the country and involvement in planned and self-organized clean-up actions. The competition aroused great interest and participation from the very beginning, as evidenced by the increase in the number of nominations in subsequent years. The contest was open to all individuals or institutions.
This year, the contest "Clean Region" was held for the fourth time in eight nominations (three nominations in 2015, five nominations in 2017 and seven nominations in 2018). Contest participants provided photo / video materials for nominations announced to the organizers (The Greens Movement of Georgia/Friends of the Earth-Georgia). The winners were revealed by a special commission established within the framework of the contest (Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, representatives of CSOs) on the basis of submitted materials.
