In Georgia “Keep Georgia Tidy ” Campaign Begins On September 20-22, "Clean Up the World" and "World Clean Up Day" (September 21) campaigns will be celebrated. The World Campaigns in Georgia will be marked by clean-up actions within the framework of the project and the campaign "Keep Georgia Tidy", and will begin in Tbilisi on September 20 with Tbilisi Sea Clean-up Action.
The campaign Keep Georgia Tidy is implemented with support of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia together with its local partner organizations, Georgian Society of Nature Explorers "Orchis" and "Greens Movement of Georgia/Friends of the Earth-Georgia", in cooperation with LEPL Environmental information and Education Centre, Waste Management company.The project in Georgia is implemented with financial support of the Government of Sweden.
The proposed project is prioritizing environmental sustainable education and its integration in the overall education system in the country, raising awareness and high engagement of the population, business sector and GOG in waste sector improvement in order to ensure people’s rights protection to live in a clean environment.
The project aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and pollution of environment by 2023 through environmental sustainable education and promotion circular economy in Georgia.
The main target groups of the project are the Government of Georgia, the business sector and the population of Georgia.
The project "Keep Georgia Tidy" will last 4 years (2019-2023). The planned activities will be implemented in 10 regions of Georgia, 63 municipalities, 4 self-governing cities and Tbilisi.
The project "Keep Georgia Tidy” is a continuation of "Clean Up Georgia" project and campaign, implemented (2010-2018 years) in Georgia, which was also supported by the Government of Sweden. As part of "Clean Up Georgia" project and campaign, numerous large-scale events were held in Georgia, including clean-up actions.
On September 20, clean-up actions are planned throughout the country, starting from September 20 in Tbilisi with a clean-up action in the vicinity of Tbilisi Sea and covering up to 1,000 locations in Georgia over three days. The project also announced the contest "Clean Region 2019".
